Agile Book Club: Investing In Change (with Diana Larsen)

For this book club session, we had a special guest: Diana Larsen! Diana Larsen is a team dynamics expert and change guru who’s been part of the Agile community since the beginning. She’s best known for coauthoring Agile Retrospectives: Making Good Teams Great with Esther Derby. She contributed two practices on team dynamics and improvement to the book and I’m thrilled she was able to join us to discuss organizational change.

📖 Invest In Change

🎙 Discussion topics:

  • Have you been part of a change, or led a change (Agile or not)? What was it like? Tell some stories from your experience.

  • What have you seen work, and not work, when people try to create change?

  • The book talks about the importance of manager, team member, and business stakeholder buy-in. In your experience, how do those groups react to change similarly and differently?

  • What’s the first thing you would do if you were asked to lead an Agile change? What would come next?

About the Book Club

From October 2021 to August 2022, I hosted a call-in talk show based on the second edition of The Art of Agile Development. The series used the book as a jumping-off point for wide-ranging discussions about Agile ideas and practices, and had a star-studded guest list.

For an archive of past sessions, visit the book club index. For more about the book, visit the Art of Agile Development home page.
