Book Announcement: The Art of Agile Development

Remember that special writing project I mentioned a few weeks ago?

I'm very proud to announce that I am writing a book on agile development to be published by O'Reilly. It's called The Art of Agile Development and I'm working on it with chromatic, author of the Extreme Programming Pocket Guide.

Our original intent was to simply update the Pocket Guide to reflect new 2nd edition XP practices. As we talked about our expectations for the book, we realized a larger, stand-alone book was a better choice, and The Art of Agile Development (TAAD) was born.

I'm excited about TAAD because, with agile development crossing the chasm, I think there's an opportunity to describe agile development in a new way. Our aim is to make an intensely practical book that shows mainstream development teams how to adopt and use agile software development. (Specifically, Extreme Programming.)

Okay, why am I telling you all this? Because I want you to be part of the process. Agilists value feedback, after all. We are writing the book right at this moment. As we finish each section, I'm publishing it on the Agile Book part of my site. We'd like your feedback on each section. You can just tell us what you think or you can answer the questions that we'll include with each section.

I've set up the art-of-agile mailing list on Yahoo Groups for your feedback. The Agile Book section of this site is where all the new content will appear. We'll post a new section at least once a week, and probably more often. Join us!
