Over the years, Shane and I have received the normal amount of criticism that a new book gets. (Perhaps less. The Amazon reviews are almost entirely positive.) One recurring theme is that we wrote an "Extreme Programming" book, not an "Agile" book.
I don't buy it. Maybe that's just an author being defensive, but I think our book is an "Agile" book first and an Extreme Programming book second. Our preface addresses exactly that question, and re-reading it today, I think we nailed it. Take a look and decide for yourself.
Next week's excerpt will be Iteration Demo, one of the most important and underrated practices in the book. I'll talk more about why it's so important next week.
