Agile Book Club: Stakeholder Trust

No matter how effective you are at delivering software, you’re in trouble without the goodwill of your stakeholders and sponsor. Stakeholder trust is essential, but on far too many teams, it’s eroded to the point that it affects teams productivity... which, ironically, degrades trust even further. How can teams create trust with their stakeholders? That’s the topic of this book club session.

🎙 Discussion prompts:

  • What are some examples of high trust between stakeholders and development teams? What about low trust?

  • What do you recommend for improving stakeholder trust?

  • How do you prefer to approach stakeholder demos?

  • What have you done when something’s gone wrong and you’ve had to disappoint your stakeholders? How did it work out?

About the Book Club

From October 2021 to August 2022, I hosted a call-in talk show based on the second edition of The Art of Agile Development. The series used the book as a jumping-off point for wide-ranging discussions about Agile ideas and practices, and had a star-studded guest list.

For an archive of past sessions, visit the book club index. For more about the book, visit the Art of Agile Development home page.
